As part of their AFG-3000 series, GW Instek has introduced their AFG-3021 20 MHz Single Channel Arbitrary Function Generator.
The AFG-3021 delivers a 250MSa/s sample rate, 16-bit resolution and an expansive 8M point memory depth for arbitrary waveform generation. Users have the option of saving edited waveforms to the unit’s memory for the building of arbitrary waveforms or utilizing the AFG-3021’s built-in DSOLink function, along with a GW Instek digital storage oscilloscope, to rebuild waveforms. The built-in 65 function waveforms enable users to perform arbitrary editing. GW Instek provides AWES, the free arbitrary waveform editing software, for the quick editing of waveforms from the built-in diagrams in order to execute measurements.
The function generator is suited to generate an output amplitude from 1mVpp to 10Vpp (connected with a 50 ohm load), a 1uHz to 20MHz frequency range and 1 uHz frequency resolution. More still, the AFG-3021 has built in sine, square, pulse, triangle, ramp, DC voltage, harmonic and noise. The waveform width, rise edge time and fall edge time of pulse waveforms can be easily modified, providing user flexibility.
The pulse waveform, with duty cycle from 0.017% to 99.983%, can be employed as trigger signals. The AFG-3021 supports frequency sweep and amplitude sweep that can incorporate other functions such as linear/logarithm, one-way (saw tooth)/two-way (triangle), continuous/single trigger/gated trigger to satisfy various application demands by applying diverse sweep methods. Ideal for filters and low frequency amplifiers, frequency sweep assesses the frequency response of electronic components. The amplitude sweep, using a vibration tester, replicates vibration tests and performs aging tests of different materials and linearity test of low frequency amplifiers.
