Loop Signal Isolators and Splitters

Loop Signal Isolators and Splitters
Current loops in the process plant are probably the most common signal encountered. However this signal is very susceptible to problems when ground loops are introduced in to the loop circuit. The risk of a phantom ground is increased in the current loop every time a device such as an alarm, panel meter, recorder or PLC is connected to the loop. These ground loops will cause the current loop signal level to vary and cause a false or fluctuating signal which can cause havoc on SCADA systems and recorders, thus upsetting an important process. A current loop signal isolator is a low cost way to clean up and isolate the 4-20 mA current loop.
