Practical Instrument Electronics has introduced their PIECAL 830 Multifunction Process Calibrator.

A revolutionary instrument, the 830 exceeds the standard functions of a multifunction calibrator. The PIECAL 830 boasts the Loop Diagnostics asset, capable of diagnosing common issues that conventional test equipment cannot locate.

The 830 can be configured as an isolated universal transmitter, and when the Loop Diagnostics is activated the display reveals precisely the sensor input, current output and possible uncontrolled current in the loop. When used with RTDs it can automatically identify which of the 2, 3 or 4 wires are unbroken and connected rapidly  notifying of a sensor problem. Even more, the LoopScope provides a glance at all the parameters in the loop: milliamps, resistance and voltage.
